The Nuances

Flaunters, some loud, mostly bold

The bustle, the fame

Oh the big game...

They chase it all!

And the wallflowers?

Some quiet, rarely outraged

The hustle, the patience simmered in silence

The clinical trials to land a whale!

What seems like a mirage of face-off to the fleeting eye,

Is indeed a shared space of quiet labor where the nuances lie...

Aren't they both seekers?

The loud, the quiet

Regardless of their fate

Or the effort that defies it,

How they wish the world just pauses

And takes notice of the nuances...

  1. The world should indeed pause, to admire and ponder the nuances, thank you for gently bringing out the delicate thoughts, the innocent wish of attracting attention to how the quiet and the loud, are all seekers of something deeper. Whether a whale or a wallflower, each is lost in their own delving...

This is a beautiful rendition of the tiny world inside each one of us... I was drawn by your words, and felt like I shared your world lens for a moment too!! 💖💖

  3. What a beautiful perspective. Your words celebrate both the visible victories and the silent perseverance with equal empathy. The imagery and rhythm make the message linger long after the last line. Wonderful writing, Shilpa 👏

Tell me...

I am curious, tell me everything about thee, an open book I am, you may say I wonder, even an open book has shallow words, spilled rather carelessly, or done willfully I will never know, for you are the master of your secrets I am curious, to know the real thee, who are we really without these secrets? a bunch of lies? you may ask the whys and wherefores  or even dismiss my quest, none of my business you see business is what I bleed at! after devouring everything that you have said, I still look beseechingly at thee, like I am gazing into the infinity of secrets, just to be free from the quest! Inversely, I sense you fighting too covering every chink in your armour to say nothing or to bare it all captivating they are, food for the soul too, you might even take them to your grave! I may say as I please, in fact, you are brave! yet, I beseech you, tell me your secrets I am curious It is because I care, I will consider and cover! I can play with the words,  but truth be told, I ...

My happy place

All I wanted was a balcony, A perfect window to an epiphany  A perfect envy to the onlookers too A small desk with a seat, made of timber Some plants , some wall art That spoke of me This person I was in private. My kind of sundowner, this would be! I waited for this place  To unwind, to unfold my thoughts For years, All I wanted was a balcony  My happy place! While walking on that street  from my childhood home towards my dream home That donned a balcony  A resolve to all my quests A perfect place to nurse my dreams A sundeck with hues of dawn, And moonlit ever and anon All I wanted was a balcony  Unbeknownst to the little me, I now hang clothes in my balcony! There is no timber,  Only dreams that linger All I want now is to go back to that street And look for that balcony Dreams can't be bought, How timber-headed of me! Afterall it's the chase, My happy place, Unbeknownst to the little me!

One Hairy Day....

One thing that has remained constant among the world humans under this lockdown (forced & self) is their involuntary quest for both introspection and extrospection. Whether we want it or not, life has boiled down to the bare essentials even for the fortunate ones. while we women fight for equal treatment as that of our male counterparts, nature has done its bit in making us realise that women and men are just a few levels of androgen apart. All thanks to the salons being shut. Some of us who are not that good at DIY techniques can give a complex to the males in the locked house with our bushy eyebrows, noticeable moustaches and a dash of beard. Among the thousands of forwards being forwarded during this lockdown, there was one such forward that resonated with my current feeling. So, I too mindlessly forwarded the same to the other groups without knowing there would be a backlash by a man! Yes, a man stating that, I shouldn't be engaging in gender discrimination.  ...
